Six weeks ago, I developed a new hobby: Researching investments that supply guaranteed income. (Technically, in addition to providing income, some of these investments also return capital, so I should have used another term. But every other phrase looks strange. Guaranteed payments? Several major cities across the United States have been abusing federal COVID-19 relief funds by instead using them for “guaranteed income” projects, to the tune of millions of dollars.

As reported by Just The News , some of the cities participating in such programs include Los Angeles, California; St. Louis, Missouri; San Francisco, California; and Providence, Rhode Island. The cities are part of a coalition called “Mayors for a Guaranteed Income.”

More than 3,000 lucky folks in Cook County, Illinois will get the income boost for two years. Creative Rebuild New York | Negative Space A new initiative will help New York based artists get a guaranteed income for the next year and a half.

The Creatives Rebuild New York announced that it will be spending $43.2 million to distribute grants to 2,400 artists in the state. It is the largest statewide guaranteed income program in the country, thus far.
