In July 2021, BlackEconomics.org released a Report Brief entitled “Black American Employment Representativeness.” We revisit that Report Brief here because the need to sound the alarm for Black labor is even more urgent today.

In addressing Black America’s employment representativeness, we focused on US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) statistics on employment by industry by race/ethnicity. Related data on employment by occupation by race/ethnicity are similar but provide additional clarity.[1]
