WAFF 48’s Claudia Peppenhorst reporting HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) – A new bill has been introduced in Congress to address the growing youth homelessness crisis. The Youth Homelessness Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Act , introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan), would provide $1400 a month, or the adjusted fair market rent in the area, to those who are homeless and under the age of 30.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures , around 4 million youth and young adults experience some form of homelessness – which is about 1 in 10 for those who are ages 18-25.
