A majority of city council members in Chicago want to give out free money to citizens even though the city is strapped for cash. They want Mayor Rahm Emanuel to form a task force to look into Universal Basic Income where the people would get a government check with no strings attached aka free money on the backs of the taxpayers.
The typical amount would be $500 a month to 1,000 needy Chicago families. Those families would also get Earned Income Tax Credit money on a monthly basis instead of once a year.
