Ireland to trial basic income scheme for artists after COVID

The initiative will cost €35 million per year and follows a recommendation from the Arts and Culture Recovery Taskforce, established in 2020, to examine how the sector could recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Two thousand artists selected at random will receive €325 per week. The trial is set to start later this month.
