Minneapolis will launch basic income experiment to fight entrenched disparities

Preliminary findings from Stockton, Calif.’s first-in-the-nation guaranteed basic income program show recipients spent most of their $500 a month on food. Minneapolis will soon support 200 families with its new guaranteed basic income pilot , an experiment in alleviating poverty by paying low-income households $500 per month for two years, no strings attached.
