Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland had lots to spend in this month’s federal budget, but not much of it was for people with disabilities. There were very few mentions in news coverage of the recent federal budget of how promises made to people living with disabilities were flagrantly disrespected, to the general indifference of all. In its 2020 speech from the throne , the Liberal government promised a new disability benefit modelled on the guaranteed income supplement for seniors. It has not yet happened.
