Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

As AI improves and becomes more powerful, its impact on the world economy will become vastly more significant. It will affect virtually every aspect of the world economy — from unemployment rates to economic growth, productivity, income inequality and more. Some argue that so far, AI has not had a large enough impact, but as its development accelerates, its effects will grow exponentially. Should Robots Pay Taxes?

Should Robots Pay Taxes?

In June 2021, we started considering the provocatively titled podcast transcript, “Can a Robot Be Arrested? Hold a Patent? Pay Income Taxes?”, posted on the IEEE Spectrum site . Steven Cherry interviewed Ryan Abbott, physician, lawyer, and professor, about these topics and referencing his 2019 book, The Reasonable Robot: Artificial Intelligence and the Law . We’ve discussed whether artificial intelligence (AI) systems could be charged with crimes or can hold a patent. Whether “robots should pay taxes” turns out to be the scariest question yet.

Touching upon the subject only lightly in the podcast, Abbott details the problem of taxing […]

Humane Work

Humane Work

Photo by Maxim Hopman The promise of the Bible is that Christ, the true-human, is making us fully and finally human again. This future reality must significantly and consequently inform all human activity. However, automation in the workplace is a primary, present threat to human dignity in the West. Robots, artificial intelligence, and machine learning replaced four million jobs in six 2016 swing states, all states won by President Trump.¹

As automation continues to play a role in the American economy, several factors must be considered in order to develop a theology of technology in the workplace. Rather than accepting […]

Is India Prepared for the Upcoming Wave of Automation?

Is India Prepared for the Upcoming Wave of Automation?

Automation is the application of technologies to produce and deliver goods and services with minimal or no human intervention. The application of automation technologies, techniques, and processes enhances the productivity, reliability, and speed of many tasks that were previously performed by humans.

There is full utilization of automation technologies by the developed countries, but within the Asia Pacific region, the countries including India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are at risk and are least prepared for the upcoming motion of automation. On the other hand, Japan, Singapore, and Australia are prepared in the best way possible.

To be particular, India ranks fifth in […]

New Supervisor Sought For Branch County’s Ovid Township

New Supervisor Sought For Branch County’s Ovid Township

Ovid Township in South Central Branch County is facing a dilemma of sorts. And something of a disruption. The Township Supervisor has resigned. The Township Board just accepted that move by former Supervisor Greg Gemmill to step down from his position. The Township has the position posted on its website, along with a detailed listing of the primary responsibilities of the job.

And it’s all over the reaction to a township resident posting a sign, clearly, if not profanely, critical of President Joe Biden. It’s not the first time someone has done that directed at any President going back some […]

Plastic Shopping Bags to Blow Away For Good in WA Beginning Oct. 1

Plastic Shopping Bags to Blow Away For Good in WA Beginning Oct. 1

For whatever reason, which would take too long to explain here, because of COVID restrictions, the statewide ban on plastic single-use shopping bags that was passed by the legislature in 2020 was delayed.

Month after month, it was extended, the Proclamation allowing continued use of the bags we know and love (most of us) because we can recycle them as trash can liners.

We use them to help pick up landmines our wonderful dogs leave in the yard (where’d you get that bagful of Tootsie Rolls?!? ).But now, effective Midnight Sept. 30th (23:59:59) they are going away for good. Here’s What […]

Job market promising for TSTC Automation and Controls graduates

Job market promising for TSTC Automation and Controls graduates

Automation is playing a huge part in new jobs in many markets. TSTC offers training for automation. The 10 letters that make up the word “automation” carry a lot of weight in how we work now and will in the future.

Automation is the ability to transform raw material into a finished product with very little human interaction, said Douglas Clark, lead instructor in TSTC’s Automation and Controls Technology program in Marshall.

Automation, which combines instrumentation, mechatronics and robotics, is increasing in East Texas and throughout the nation, Clark said.“Right now, I can’t place as many students as there are jobs,” […]

Automation in Artificial Intelligence and its Effect on Economy

Industrialists and giant companies all over the world are further adapting to the idea of automation in artificial intelligence. In India, technological progress, is the main driver of growth of GDP per capita, allowing output to increase faster than labor and capital. Technology increases productivity by decreasing the number of labor hours needed to create a unit of output. An increment in labor productivity generally translates into increases in average wages, allowing workers to cut back on work hours and to afford more goods and services. AI should be welcomed […]
