I think it’s more or less the only viable way to go to maintain a reasonable standard of living as the creation of wealth transfers increasingly from labour to capital. The problem, of course, is that you run into a similar position to that of the resource trap: When countries have valuable natural resources that don’t require an educated populace and extensive infrastructure to secure, the lot of the people who live there does not tend to be good.
