Mississippi Continuously Fails Black Women. Let’s Finally Change That

Mississippi cannot catch a break. From crumbling infrastructure that routinely leaves our capital city without access to safe water , to being the last state to adopt Medicaid for postpartum care despite having some of the country’s most restrictive abortion laws, to the raiding of welfare funds to line the pockets of the rich and famous, to climate change-fueled storms that killed dozens in March– to say it’s been a trying time would be the understatement of the century.

While these issues may seem disparate, one devastating consequence they all have in common is that they will take the heaviest […]

Should Only The Rich Be Allowed Purpose?

Should Only The Rich Be Allowed Purpose?

Rarely in the debate about Guaranteed or Universal Basic Income is the discussion of purpose mentioned. Which is odd considering that the idea of purpose, or being able to work towards one’s purpose, may create the greatest direct and indirect benefits of a Basic Income scheme.

"In a last violent protest against the hopelessness of imminent death… I heard a victorious yes in answer to my question of the existence of an ultimate purpose." Viktor Frankl in his book about his existence in a concentration camp – Man’s Search for Meaning – is quite clear that humans live for, and […]
