TOP proposes $200 a week handout for families and elderly, more security for tenants

TOP leader Gareth Morgan wants a universal basic income in New Zealand. Photo / Mark Mitchell New Zealanders aged over 65 or families with children under three would get a Government handout of $200 a week under a policy announced The Opportunities Party today.

The payments would eventually be extended to all adult New Zealanders, as part of an "unconditional basic income" (UBI) worth around $10,000 a year.
