Minimouse, Zoony is right that the amount was high in Switzerland but although Switzerland’s referendum suggested a high UBI (sometimes called Basic Citizen’s Income) basic monthly income of 2,500 Swiss francs (£1,750) for adults and 625 Swiss francs for children as a “working example” there was little argument about it being doable with an overall cost only a little above the cost of their benefits system and this could well be offset by a lower cost in health, etc. It seems to be more that the idea feels counter-intuitive to many people.
