There is a decent example of this where I live. I live in a community that has quite a few military members. This has also been the case in every city I have lived in that is heavily military. We got a Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) to help with bills and rent off base. The BAH covered my mortgage and some other bills. With dependents, my highest BAH was $1,200 per month.
