Finland’s Universal Basic Income Experiment Found to Reduce Stress In Unemployed

Finland’s experiment, which involves giving 560 euro a month for two years to 2,000 people, seems to have caused a reduction in stress levels. Marjukka Turunen, head of Kela (an agency that handles unemployment and other benefits), said that the plan indirectly improved people’s mental health. Turunen said that while an amount of $600 monthly is not much, it is quite enough to ease many people’s anxieties.

Turunen clarifies that no official data will be presented until 2018, although anecdotes from a few people suggest some level of success.
