Finland turns away from universal basic income

The Finnish government has decided not to extend the limited experiment of the unconditional basic income, which has triggered a great global interest. He added that the government had rejected Kela’s request for an extra 40 to 70 million Euro to fund basic income for a group of Finnish workers rather than limiting the experiment to just 2,000 unemployed.

In 2017, the Finnish authorities chose to launch an experiment paying to 2,000 unemployed people, picked at random, the unconditional basic income amounting to 560 euros (over $680).
