STOCKTON — Mayor Michael Tubbs on Wednesday evening said the 125 residents receiving guaranteed basic income payments are no different from anybody else.
“It’s not some other (people). It’s not some ‘them’ ” he said. “It’s us. It’s folks who are contributing, who are producing, who have value, who have dignity, who for a variety of reasons … aren’t being able to self-actualize and be a part of this idea of the American Dream.”
