Polls show that 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union and its totalitarian socialist regime, 43 percent of Americans embrace some form of socialism. Over half of young adult Americans between the ages have a favorable view towards socialism, and a full 55 percent of adult women say they would rather live in a socialist country than a capitalist one. Taking the population of the United States as a whole, 51 percent believe socialism would be a bad thing for the country.
