Worker pay and benefits aren’t growing quite as fast as they were a year or two ago. The numbers: The cost to businesses of employing American workers rose at a slower pace in the second quarter, offering more evidence that labor costs are not adding much to inflation.
The employment cost index rose 0.6% in the second quarter, the government said Wednesday . Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 0.7% increase.
