Despite her headline-grabbing philanthropy last year, MacKenzie Scott’s fortune is growing faster than she can give it away. Scott, much of whose wealth is in Amazon stock, donated $5.8 billion of her $36 billion in 2020, targeting groups hit hardest by the pandemic and showering money on historically Black colleges and universities. But because of the growth in value of Amazon stock, she is now worth $53 billion. Scott has signed the Giving Pledge and has moved speedily to make gifts.
