In his letter “Hard to understand those unwilling to work,” Steve Erickson criticized a young acquaintance who was “unwilling to work on a job that starts in the $12- to $14-per-hour range.” My first part-time job working in a grocery store when I was a high school student paid $11.96 per hour, adjusted for inflation.
