HOUSTON, Texas — Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced May 19 alongside the Houston Fund for Social Justice and Economic Equity a year-long guaranteed income pilot program designed to help impoverished residents.
According to a May 19 press release, the program runs in partnership with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, a coalition of more than 60 mayors committed to promoting a federally guaranteed income with direct recurring cash payments to the poor and middle class.
