(Quebec) Some 84,000 welfare recipients will receive more generous benefits as of January 1 er January under a new program in the making since 2017. These benefits will nevertheless be below the minimum income threshold necessary to cover basic needs.
In interview with The Press the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Solidarity, Jean Boulet, officially announces that the “Basic Income Program” will come into force next year, a decision endorsed by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
