Article 1, Section 4 of the Ohio Constitution states in part: "The people have the right to bear arms for their defense and security…" The most ardent gun rights supporter wouldn’t want a five- or 10-year-old to be able to buy a gun. That is why there are state laws which fill in the details and regulations.
So, whether the constitution says "individual" or "people," it up the Legislature to fill in the details like age, parental consent, reasonable limitations. So let’s have a reasoned debate and stop the fearmongering.
