Cities and counties in Iowa could not implement guaranteed income programs under a bill passed by the Iowa House on Monday.
House File 2319 passed 55-43 on Monday. By banning guaranteed income programs, the legislation also allows the attorney general to sue local governments if they fail to comply with a cease and desist order over aadoption, enforcement or maintenance of a prohibited program.
