Basic income programs expands to assist foster youth. More than 2,000 L.A. County foster youth will begin receiving guaranteed income payments following a vote Tuesday to include those transitioning out of care when they’re between 18 and 21 years old.
The Breathe program expansion, according to Supervisor Holly Mitchell’s motion, is designed to continue supporting foster youth at a time when they are particularly vulnerable to homelessness, poverty, crime and not finishing their education.
