A guaranteed basic income could lead to healthier British Columbians, says author of new report

Rising produce prices have made healthy meals an unfeasible prospect for lower-income Canadians, a problem a new report suggests guaranteed basic income could solve. While the notion of a guaranteed basic income has proven to be controversial, a new report from the Northern Policy Institute suggests a implementing a program of the sort would lead to more than just financial health.

The report examined a group of low-earning people in Ontario, finding that a basic income would allow for much more flexibility when it came to basic necessities like food.
