Basic income programs have been proposed as a potential solution to the changing economic conditions our society faces. As the concept of work changes due to external factors such as decreased labor protections and the shift to independent contractors, automation, artificial intelligence, and pandemic, the number of people finding themselves exposed to poverty increases. The inequalities and consequences of poverty create injustice within a society as poverty increases and segments of population become more stratified.
