Hollywood writers have expressed concerns over the use of generative AI technology to produce entertainment that they fear could replace their jobs. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has said it wants to "draw a line in the sand right now and say, ‘Writers are human beings’", and is demanding unions can prevent chatbots from creating literary material that is written or rewritten by the technology. The actors union SAG-AFTRA told the New York Times there was mounting evidence producers were claiming the rights to voice actors’ performances to simulate new performances without compensation.
