OFFICIALS in Ulster County, New York announced this week that the county is extending its universal basic income pilot through September.
The UBI program initially sent $500 monthly payments to 100 households from April 2021 to April 2022. Ulster County is sending another $1,000 to UBI recipients through September After payments expired in early spring, Ulster lawmakers reportedly found through anecdotes that the monthly payments had made a real difference for many recipients.
