STARTING this week, those struggling in Santa Clara County are set to receive their first $1,000 checks for the two-year universal basic income (UBI) program.
The Silicon Valley Guaranteed Income Program will be giving 150 Santa Clara County families experiencing or at risk of homelessness no-strings-attached income for 24 months. Recipients will score the first check from the two-year program this week This week, about 10 to 15 households will receive their first payments.
