Pat Nabong / Sun-Times Jailyn Brown, who has been receiving $500 through the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot, at a bus stop in Bronzeville on her way to her job in Bucktown. Brown said she uses some of the money for rideshares but usually takes a bus. When Jailyn Brown was selected to join a pilot program that gives cash to people struggling to make ends meet, the 23-year-old could hardly get enough hours at the retail store in Chicago where she worked to cover her expenses.
