A study has revealed that providing homeless people in Denver with a basic income saved taxpayers thousands of dollars.
Researchers from the Denver Basic Income Project (DBIP) released the findings of the study in their one-year evaluation on Tuesday.
In total, an estimated $589,214 was saved on public services, including ambulance trips, shelter stays, hospital visits, jail time, and stays at drug or alcohol treatment centers.A total of 807 people experiencing homelessness participated in the project.
