In Australia, the problem has increased significantly over the last decade, and has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Between 2011 and 2016, incidents of homelessness increased by between 14% and 22% with a further increase of 8% during the pandemic years (2017/18 to 2021/22).
