A new poll POLITICO/Morning Consult conducted between the 14th and 17th September 2017 surveying 1,994 registered US voters, found that, of those asked whether they would support or oppose ‘ a proposal in which the government would provide all Americans a regular, unconditional sum of money, sometimes referred to as universal basic income ’, 43% either ‘strongly supported’ or ‘somewhat supported’ the idea.

The ‘working poor’ are embracing basic income. About two thirds of basic income sign-ups so far have come from the so-called ‘working poor,’ a fact Lindsay residents who are struggling should take note of as it begins to unfold here.

The economic theory of basic income revolves around giving citizens of a country an equal, periodic, and unconditional sum of money. Those who support basic income claim it is a more transparent system than existing welfare systems, and that it has the ability to reduce or even eradicate poverty in a country.
