Working Class, NEETS, Universal Basic Income,

There is a lot of rhetoric from various leftist ideology about MUH WORKING CLASS. Since when has leftist ideology ever benefited the working class and not just turned them into cannon fodder, starve them, etc. while the leaders become the bourgeois they hate? Also under the liberal/conservative/mainstream-parties tyranny, which we could call leftist, workers are still fucked over massively. I can’t think of any leftist-ideology dominated society where life isn’t tremendously shit for the workers.

Doesn’t leftist ideology create a problem where there isn’t one; creating class divisions and making people acutely aware of them by creating such a fuss […]

The UBI’s Parent Trap

The UBI’s Parent Trap

Universal Basic Income, or UBI, is one of the hot policy ideas of the moment. It calls for the federal government to provide every citizen with an unconditional cash stipend sufficient to meet basic needs. Just this week, Harvard University Press released Basic Income: A Radical Proposal for a Free Society and a Sane Economy , a major work by Belgian professors Philippe Van Parijs and Yannick Vanderborght. Tomorrow in Manhattan, Charles Murray and Andy Stern ( both authors of pro-UBI books) will debate former Obama advisors Jason Furman and Jared Bernstein on whether “ the Universal Basic Income […]

HUNGARY: Hungary: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán speaks harshly against basic income

Picture: Viktor Orbán. Credit to Politics.Hu

Viktor Orbán , Hungary’s prime minister, made reference to basic income in his speech at the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held on 28 February, 2017.

The speech itself is very much focused on economic issues, centred on the Hungarian reality. Orbán, however, also offers comments about his vision for Hungarian society and energy investment in the near future. Regarding society, Orbán portrays a vision of a homogenous racial and cultural profile, in which all jobs are performed by Hungarians. In fact, he repeats the word “homogeneity” seven times in the speech within […]

Ontario will test universal basic income in three cities in 2017

Ontario will test universal basic income in three cities in 2017

Our neighbor to the north, Canada, has always been a greater champion of socialist-leaning public policies than even our Democratic Party (though that seems to be changing), but the province of Ontario is set to take a giant step down the road to full-on socialism: Providing a “basic income” to people by the spring of this year.

As reported by Quartz , the idea has already run into major opposition from some sectors of society, but no matter. The ruling Liberal Party in Ontario will soon launch a pilot “universal basic income” to residents in as many as three cities […]

India Network for Basic Income jointly with SEWA Bharat is organising a National Conference on “Basic Income in India” in New Delhi on March 29 and 30, 2017.

This National Conference comes against the backdrop of dramatic new developments in India with respect to Universal Basic Income. This document is a perspective document presented every year by the Ministry of Finance, as it sees how the economy has […]

Getting Basic Income Right

Getting Basic Income Right

WASHINGTON, DC – Universal basic income (UBI) schemes are getting a lot of attention these days. Of course, the idea – to provide all legal residents of a country a standard sum of cash unconnected to work – is not new. The philosopher Thomas More advocated it back in the sixteenth century, and many others, including Milton Friedman on the right and John Kenneth Galbraith on the left, have promoted variants of it over the years. But the idea has lately been gaining much more traction, with some regarding it as a solution to today’s technology-driven economic disruptions. Can […]

Universal Basic Income… Seriously?

Universal Basic Income… Seriously?

I continue to be astounded by the number of smart people who keep calling for Universal Basic Income . I am astounded because I don’t think it takes much thought to figure out why its not just a bad idea, but an unworkable, unjust, and unsustainable.

The advocates mention how it will simplify and reduce the costs of government social services, make it possible for more people try entrepreneurship, or to leave their low end jobs to do something more worthwhile or creative.

Never mind that the road to hell is paved with good intentions . THE LOSS OF JOBS The […]

Universal Basic Income: What It Is And Why It Is Important

Effectively providing for the basic needs of citizens is a cornerstone concern of any modern country. As the world changes, the way we address these needs must also evolve. Universal Basic Income, or UBI, is an increasingly popular approach to providing these resources for people. UBI goes far beyond the minimum wage, and acts as a social security system that you start collecting as soon as you become an adult. This means that whether you work or not, you will have enough money to purchase the most basic needs like food, clothes, and shelter. Part of the reason that […]

For an Unconditional Basic Income

The basic income corrects the distribution effects of the labor market. It takes something from the higher paid to give to those who earn little or nothing. A leftist fights for a just social system. Robots and artificial intelligence replace human labor. Fears of changes should be confronted with a basic security.
