Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s 2022 budget was passed on Wednesday, signing an agreement on Chicago’s first experiment to guarantee the base income of low-income earners. In her statement after the budget was over, Lightfoot said that money was aimed at helping working families stay afloat while the city continued its pandemic recovery.
