With one day left until the application window closes, 206,000 people have so far put their names in for Cook County’s guaranteed income pilot program.
Cook County Board Chair Toni Preckwinkle didn’t sound surprised by that number, telling reporters Thursday that more than a third of the county was eligible for the program “and many are in need at this difficult time.”
