I’m generally in favour of UBI, but it’s worth noting it isn’t a cure to all of the social ills that would result from a fully automated economy. Right now, even the people who occupy the very lowest rungs of the social ladder have some modicum of power within the capitalist system, because they can choose to withhold their labour, and this power is magnified when exercised collectively. In the fully automated economy, even this small power is denied them.
