(BCN) – In the fight against extreme poverty, California supports statewide guaranteed income programs for the first time. As announced Monday, the California Department of Human Services plans to distribute $25 million in cash payments to nearly 2,000 residents living in difficult circumstances, particularly those who are pregnant or aging in need of care.
Program participants receive unconditional and recurring payments ranging from $600 to $1200 per month for 12 to 18 months.
