Officials from the Guaranteed Income Validation Effort, the pilot program providing a guaranteed minimum income of $500 a month to 125 Gary residents, made their pitch to the Gary Common Council Tuesday for the $400,000 in funding they need to bring the pilot to completion.
Burgess Peoples, GIVE executive director, and attorney Thomas Dakich, GIVE executive board member, said they are hopeful the council will approve a request by the administration to provide $400,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding to continue to program through April as intended.
