Finland has conducted a unique field experiment on an unconditional basic income in order to learn more about the behavioural and welfare effects of the policy. The government-initiated project started with a pre-evaluation study (2016) about the feasibility of different basic income models in Finland. The actual experiment started in January 2017 and ended in December 2018. Researchers will evaluate the experiment in an evaluation project that continues until the end of 2020.
