A Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Could Put Millions of Taxpayer Money Back into the Hands of Neighbors
Harris County neighbors in low-income neighborhoods may soon have the opportunity to participate in a guaranteed income pilot program that could provide them with a monthly payment. The program, which is still awaiting approval, would use $20.5 million in federal funds to provide eligible participants with $500 a month for a year and a half. The goal of the program is to help low-income families make ends meet, as the cost of living continues to rise.
