Hot take: Universal basic income is already here, but its determined by an unfair system.

The bigger take is, physical/menial labor is losing value fast. If all that someone is capable of is low-skill manual labor or similar, their work is simply not worth enough to be paid fairly.

In my opinion, a higher minimum wage won’t solve the underlying problem, which is the fact that their work just simply isn’t worth significantly more than what they’re already paid. Walmart’s profit margin is already razor thin, they simply cannot afford to give their employees higher wages.
