I was in a hipster coffee shop today (What can I say? Those bearded bastards brew good coffee.) and overheard two Bernie bros chatting about basic income like it was the ultimate dream (because it IS their utopia.) Many leftists dream of a day where robots do most of the work, a select talented few do the rest (driving technology/society forward), and the remainder of humanity receives a basic income check and gets to spend their days enjoying life and writing poetry.
