SF Councillor Cummings happy with basic income pilot meeting with province – town controversy may have helped

Residents gathered late last year at the town’s arena to hear more about the pilot project Some members of Smiths Falls council along with County Warden Bill Dobson, met last weekend with the Hon. Chris Ballard, Minister Responsible for the Poverty Reduction Strategy, to advance the case for a Basic Income pilot project in the region.

“We had an opportunity to present a briefing, which we had prepared in advance, and talked about why we believe that Smiths Falls and/or Lanark County would make a good location,” said Chris Cummings, Smiths Falls Councillor.
