In a groundbreaking move for the city, St. Paul’s guaranteed income experiment has yielded significant benefits for its participants, according to a new study revealed by Mayor Melvin Carter and covered in a FOX 9 report . Spanning from October 2020 through April 2022, the People’s Prosperity Program granted $500 monthly payments to select residents, with recipients experiencing increased employment, better housing, and improved physical and mental health. Specifically, employment among participants jumped from 49% to 63% six months post-program.
