Selected residents of Palm Springs, California , only need to wait less than two weeks before a guaranteed income program begins paying $800 every month.
The program, which is being run by nonprofit organizations Queer Works and DAP Health, selected 30 recipients earlier this year in March, and will begin the 18-month-long pay schedule on May 15. The recipients of this program will be free to spend this monthly payment in any way they see fit, according to Queer Works.
