(Tania Barricklo/Daily Freeman) KINGSTON, N.Y. — For 17 months beginning in May 2021, a select group of 100 county residents received a universal basic monthly income as part of a pilot program to determine whether there is a better way to get relief to individuals in need.
Not surprisingly, an analysis of that program conducted by the University of Pennslyvania found that recipients of that grant reported improved financial health, an increased sense of self-worth and an enhanced quality of life.
