COOK COUNTY, Illinois — Thousands of Cook County residents will receive $12,000 over two years through the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot program.

The program is currently accepting applications through October 21, 2022. The applications will then be checked for eligibility. Those who qualify will enter a lottery and 3,250 entrants will be selected at random. Cook County introduces $8.75 billion budget for 2023

(The Center Square) – Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle unveiled a proposed $8.75 billion budget recommendation, which includes millions in spending for equity programs and pandemic relief with no new tax increases.

The proposed budget is a $1 billion increase from last year’s budget and up $3 billion since 2018, according to the Civic Federation, a nonpartisan government research organization.
