TORONTO — The pilot project of basic income policies to reduce poverty in Ontario would be a failure and many of the participants have dropped the program, said Wednesday the progressive conservative government of the province, who attempts to defend his controversial decision to terminate the program.
The social Services minister and member for Nepean, Lisa MacLeod, has announced that the pilot project participants would be receiving their cheques after the month of August and that the official date of the abolition of the program would be announced later in the month.
